Our Projects
“IMGLAD to Consolidate Pride in Mindanao” is an effort to widen and foster a space for political participation among the marginalized LGBTQIA+ in the areas of Cotabato City, Iligan City and the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Maguindanao. The project centers on awareness raising, organizational strengthening of the IMGLAD chapter formation, network building and linkaging, and creating an agenda that the movement will work towards in the coming years. This project is hosted by Mindanao People’s Peace Movement (MPPM) and is funded by Voice Philippines. The project aims to achieve this through its three-pronged strategy, namely: (1) Unfurling the Pride, which aims to heighten the awareness of rights holder groups on LGBTQIA+ issues, rights, and challenges through a series of online rainbow sessions and face-to-face community-based education; (2) Living the pride, which focuses on improving the organizational and technical capacity of the LGBTQIA+ members as well as setting the organizational direction of IMGLAD as a movement. This is achieved through community assemblies and trainings that aim to capacitate its Gladders on public speaking, leadership, organizational development management, strategic planning, communication planning, and effective messaging. This also includes the implementation of the Pride Congress which aims to set the organizational structure and direction of the movement.; and lastly, (3) Marching the Pride, which aims to broaden solidarity with other LGBTQIA+ movements and allies through linking and learning activities.

Project Pagbuklat is a co-produced project implemented by IMGLAD and Gayon Cares Inc. under the YGOAL Innovation Studio and supported by YGOAL and Voice. The project aims to foster an increased awareness of different LGBTQIA+ concepts and terms by creating simplified, inclusive, and easily accessible learning materials. Project Pagbuklat has four main activities namely: (1) Preliminaries, which involves the baselining process for identifying the topics for Project Pagbuklat as well as the formation of the technical working group; (2) Library Formation, which will encompass the process of creating the poster brochure from content creation to printing; (3) Languages of Pride, which includes translating the content of the brochure into four languages (English, Cebuano, Bicolano, and Filpino); and (4) Going Beyond: Pagbuklat Voka Sessions, which will showcase the created learning materials through online rainbow learning sessions and community-based education in four local high schools. Currently, this online library will house simplified learning materials on SOGIESC and the SOGIE Equality Bill, Intersectionality, and Yogyakarta Principles.

Process and address the lack of awareness and misconceptions of the LGBTIQ people including our allies in Human Rights, SOGIESC, and the SOGIE Equality Bill. The project has two (2) objectives; a) To improve awareness of the LGBTQIA+ members and allies on human rights instruments, SOGIESC, and the issues affecting the vulnerable; b) To capacitate the LGBTQIA+ members and allies with the necessary skills in writing policy agendas, drafting SOGIESC-affirmative legislation, and lobbying.
Marching the Pride: Bringing the Human Rights Back in LGBTQIA+ Advocacy in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City
Building on the gains and drawbacks from the previous project and the IMGLAD Intersectional Agenda, this initiative is proposed to contribute to the goal of reducing the vulnerability of the LGBTQIA+ community in Mindanao through increasing advocacy skills and deepening the awareness and commitment of our community’s allies, particularly in the IMGLAD Chapters in Cotabato City, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, and Maguindanao. Two-pronged strategies – Living the Pride and Marching the Pride – will be applied to hit the aforesaid objective
