Warren Coñado - LGBT tambacan Chairperson
Back when I was in High School my Friends and School teacher saw potential in me in becoming a good leader. Since then I was a dancer/coach of the cheerleading team not just that but even in singing contest I was the one to compete. Also my passion in arts, like painting result to people looking up to me. They are expecting more from me. Adding up to the pressure but I did not see it as a struggle, more like a challenge, that's what.
I was never one of those people who wanted to be in charge. I always wanted to have the opportunity to lead and make decisions, but I never really thought about it as my future career until a few years ago when I had the chance to work with some amazing leaders. I had a glimpsed of what responsibility I must bring with me if I pursue this path.
There was a time that I was appointed as a campaign manager of the barangay election and found out that I could manage it and be able to fulfill the responsibility. It was followed by when I was told to create an Organization chapter in our barangay - an LGBT organization, and later on, I was happy that I did.
I am happy and very proud that the organization receive the highest rank from the "Serbisyo Award" in Humanitarian Service Category, and we are recognized by the barangay, especially the LGBT chapters. Chills I get whenever my name is mentioned and appreciated.
For me, I think that my greatest contribution to the LGBT community as an LGBT advocate is number 1, I am making a difference. I believed that the LGBT does not deserve to be treated in a way like its sole purpose is to give entertainment or provide services. 2 is that I and the rest of my Team believe that our time is limited and our days are numbered, and with this, we always inculcate to the people the idea or purpose that we have, and we will continue to be a good role model and positive influencers, especially to the young generation, And we always wanted to keep a Fair, Safe, Inclusive and Equitable Environment for the LGBTQ Community.
